NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved: AXIS 5670e Release date: Oct 04, 2004 Release type: PRODUCTION Software version: 7.00 File size: AXIS 5670e 1 769 338 bytes Last preceding release: 6.42 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact Information =================== Please contact Axis Communications for product information, updates and support at http://www.axis.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- Added features in version 7.00 ============================== - SNMPv2c - SNMPv3 - TCP/IP Printing Restriction - Rendezvous - Three characters (fork, chair and hook) are added to the OCR-A font in the IPDS PCL driver. - Added support for line types (same as PS and PCL5) to the IPDS PCL3 driver. - Added "_" as an allowed character in DNS-names. - Added three parameters for LLC type 2 configuration: * LLC Response Time * LLC Receiver Ack Time * LLC Inactivity Time - Email notification is improved by using the pin/port-status to detect Offline and PaperOut status, as well as previous use of extended status. - The account list is increased to make room for around 100 entries. - Added a parameter to select default IP frame type * Default IP Ethernet Frame Type - Added a printer driver to the SCS-emulator. It is a new Epson LQ driver that handles line density settings better, e.g. it can set the line density to exactly 8 LPI. - The TCP/IP parameters have been divided into two sets: TCP/IP Network and TCP/IP Printing - The Axis private enterprise MIB has been revised and updated. - Added support for several copiers from Minolta. Corrected problems in version 7.00 ================================== - Improved support in Mac OS X for a number of Epson laser printers. - The IPDS PCL5 driver scales downloaded raster fonts incorrectly. The characters were a little bit too big and were also clipped in the right and lower edges. This problem has been corrected. - Corrected two PCL5 font mappings (FGID 87 and 222) in the IPDS PCL driver. - Horizontal text and overlay positioning in the IPDS PCL driver is improved. - A problem with lines drawn with the IPDS PCL driver being incorrectly positioned and trimmed has been corrected. - IPDS barcodes is now printing correctly in all printer emulations irrespective of the emulated printer resolution and an elected printer driver. - Corrected four font mappings (5687, 5707, 5815 and 5835 ) in the IPDS PCL3 driver. - When presenting printer information, the support for the printer's display character set is improved. - Querying for information from the printer has been improved. - Appletalk support is improved: * config printer is advertised * two printers are advertised per port. * Auto detect printer type is now turned on/off individually for each port. - default value is on - default type is Laserwriter - FTP has been improved in that if a print-job is closed with a reset (RST) from the host, the received data is only discarded if RST arrives before FIN. - The replies sent when probed for status by Windows "Standard TCP/IP port" are corrected. - TN5250e end-of-job handling is improved. - When a TN5250e-parameter is changed only the affected TN5250e-session is restarted. - Both padded and unpadded RIDIC recorded G4 MMR encoded IO-images are now handled in IPDS-emulator. - Prevent using an uninitialized pointer while traversing a parameter information list. - Prevent multiple deallocations of lustat structures. - Improved stability during LLC disconnections. - A Twinax laser printer emulation combined with a matrix printer generated an extra line feed in the first print job after starting the print session. This has been corrected. - The size of four fonts (5687, 5707, 5815 and 5835) in the IPDS PCL-driver has been corrected. - Improvements in the recovery of parallel port communication when a printer has had 'paper out', 'busy', 'off line' or similar. This improves the stability of communication between the printer and print server. - When a connected printer is powered on, queued print jobs are started. - When a connected printer goes online from 'paper out', 'busy', 'off line' or similar, queued print jobs are started. - Improved performance by limiting simultaneous raw tcp connections to 5 per tcp port. Earlier, printing clients could consume the print server' memory if the printer was e.g. powered off. - The Delete Job functionality is improved, now it is possible to delete "hanging" jobs as well. - If the print server receives the domain name option via DHCP, the value is validated before the parameter is set. - The tcp handling of retransmissions is improved. Data loss is now less frequent in tcp sessions where the amount of data retransmission is high. - A TCP/IP problem which could cause network disturbances has been corrected. Known problems in version 7.00 ============================== - If upgrading from a firmware release earlier than 6.42, the DHCP parameter will be set to the default value, i.e. enabled. Thus after upgrading from these old releases any static IP parameters, such as the IP address, will be replaced with values obtained with DHCP. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. - Axis ThinWizard is the recommended management tool to use with this print server. HP WebJetadmin is neither tested nor supported with this release. - Support for Checksums in Netware is not implemented. - If there is an SLP directory agent on the network and the slp-directory-agent option (RFC 2165) is used by the dhcp server, the Print Servers will most likely end up in a non recoverable endless loop. - If the print server receives an NDS tree name via dhcp, and the new name differs from the one stored in the print server, the print server will keep on rebooting forever. The solution is either to disable the NDS tree option on the DHCP server, or to configure the print server on a network where no DHCP server is present. - FW 7.00 is not fully compatible with TW 3.00. The Print Server name will be missing and the Status reported by TW 3.0 will be wrong. For full functionality please use TW 3.04, or higher. TW 3.04 is estimated to be released no later than Feb 4 2005.
