NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved: AXIS 5600+ Release date: Dec 21, 2004 Release type: SERVICE Software version: 7.02.0 File size: 1 146 622 bytes Last preceding release: 7.00.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact Information ==================== Please contact Axis Communications for product information, updates and support at: http://www.axis.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- N.B for ThinWizard users: ------------------------- The preceeding 7.00.0 release is not supported by ThinWizard due to the way the DHCP parameter behaves when upgrading from older firmware (see Corrected problems section below). This document describes the changes made between the 7.00.0 release and this release. The release notes for the 7.00.0 release can be found at the following location: http://www.axis.com/ftp/pub_soft/prt_srv/5600p_1/7_00_0/7_00_0.txt Added features in version 7.02.0 ================================ Removed functionality ===================== Corrected problems in version 7.02.0 ==================================== - The DHCP parameter is no longer set to the default value when upgrading from a firmware release prior to 7.00.0 as was the case with the 7.00.0 firmware. Limitations in version 7.02.0 ================================ - Axis ThinWizard is the recommended management tool to use with this print server. HP WebJetadmin is neither tested nor supported with this release. - Succesful paralell-port "flash-loading" might require two, or more, attempts in some cases. - Support for Checksums in Netware is not implemented. - Users are recommended to use the native print monitor on Win2000/XP. - If there is an SLP directory agent on the network and the slp-directory-agent option (RFC 2165) is used by the dhcp server, the Print Servers will most likely end up in a non recoverable endless loop. - If the print server receives a NDS tree name via dhcp, and the new name differs from the one stored in the print server, then the print server will keep on rebooting forever. The solution is either to disable the NDS tree option on the DHCP server, or to configure the print server on a network where no DHCP server is present. - FW 7.02.0 is not fully compatible with TW 3.00. The Print Server name will be missing and the Status reported by TW 3.0 will be wrong. For full functionality please use TW 3.04, or higher. TW 3.04 is estimated to be released no later than Feb 4 2005. - Firmware release 7.00 and onwards only supports print servers with Axis brand name.
