NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved: AXIS 5600+ Release date: Oct 13, 2004 Release type: SERVICE Software version: 7.00.0 File size: 1 146 254 bytes Last preceding release: 6.33.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact Information ==================== Please contact Axis Communications for product information, updates and support at: http://www.axis.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- Added features in version 7.00.0 ================================ - TCP/IP Printing Restriction - Rendezvous - New web interface - The TCP/IP parameters has been divided into two sets: TCP/IP Network and TCP/IP Printing - The Axis private enterprise MIB has been revised and updated. - Appletalk autodetection of printer type is now enabled/disabled on a per port basis (enabled by default). Default printer type is LaserWriter. - It is now possible to explicitly enable/disable the FTP, TELNET, SNMP and RemoteConfig (used for Netpilot). - Added default IP frame-type parameter, useful when choosing the default frame-type to be used for IP multi- or broadcasts. - Different factory-default behavior when using the test button. DHCP will be restored to its factory-default. - Added LLC options to tweak some of the timeouts. Corrected problems in version 7.00.0 ==================================== - Improved support in MacOS X for a number of Epson laser printers. - If the print server receives the domain name option via DHCP, the value is validated before the parameter is set. - The tcp handling of retransmissions is improved. Data loss is now less frequent in tcp sessions where the amount of data retransmission is high. - The Delete Job functionality is improved, now it is possible to delete "hanging" jobs as well. - A TCP/IP problem which could cause network disturbances has been corrected. - A problem with printing very small jobs with raw tcp has been removed. Earlier, the print jobs could disappear if the print server got an end-of-file before the printer became available. - Solved problem with missing lines when print jobs are sent while the printer is disconnected or offline. - Improved performance by limiting simultaneous raw tcp connections to 5 per tcp port. Earlier, printing clients could consume all memory of the print server if the printer is e.g. powered off. - Improvement to make sure the print server honors the busy signal in the parallel port interface. - E-mail notifications can be triggered by printers that only use pin status. - Corrected a problem when moving print servers between half- to full-duplex hubs. - Print Job redirection to secondary printer will be done if the primary printer is in an error-condition. - Corrected a problem with aborted FTP print-jobs when the DATA connections has is shutting down. - Corrected an issue when logging in to the admin pages using the mozilla browser. Limitations in version 7.00.0 ================================ - If upgrading from a firmware release prior to 7.00.0, the DHCP parameter will be set to the default value, i.e. enabled. Thus after upgrading from these old releases any static IP parameters, such as the IP address, will be replaced with values obtained with DHCP. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this might cause you. - Axis ThinWizard is the recommended management tool to use with this print server. HP WebJetadmin is neither tested nor supported with this release. - Succesful paralell-port "flash-loading" might require two, or more, attempts in some cases. - Support for Checksums in Netware is not implemented. - Users are recommended to use the native print monitor on Win2000/XP. - If there is an SLP directory agent on the network and the slp-directory-agent option (RFC 2165) is used by the dhcp server, the Print Servers will most likely end up in a non recoverable endless loop. - If the print server receives a NDS tree name via dhcp, and the new name differs from the one stored in the print server, then the print server will keep on rebooting forever. The solution is either to disable the NDS tree option on the DHCP server, or to configure the print server on a network where no DHCP server is present. - FW 7.00 is not fully compatible with TW 3.00. The Print Server name will be missing and the Status reported by TW 3.0 will be wrong. For full functionality please use TW 3.04, or higher. TW 3.04 is estimated to be released no later than Feb 4 2005. - Firmware release 7.00 and onwards only supports print servers with Axis brand name.
