AXISCDEX is the Axis CD-ROM Extension required by some CD-ROM

applications. AXISCDEX shall be used instead of MSCDEX (the Microsoft

CD-ROM Extension), when the CD-ROM drive is located in an AXIS CD-ROM

Server. MSCDEX is used when the CD-ROM driver is installed locally in

the PC. AXISCDEX supports the most common MSCDEX calls.



AXISCDEX version 2.23 supports Windows 3.x.



Software Requirements

=====================

- MS-DOS version 3.0 or higher



Installation of AXISCDEX

========================

To install the AXISCDEX, type:



  install.exe



at the DOS prompt in the directory where the file is 

located.



The installation program will copy Axiscdex.exe onto 

your hard disk, and provide the following options:



- automatically updating of the autoexec.bat file

- assignment of drive letters supported by AXISCDEX



Drive letter assignment

=======================

If new network connections to Axis CD-ROM Servers are 

made after the installation, the drive letters are

transferred to AXISCDEX by typing:



  AXISCDEX <letter>



at the DOS prompt, where <letter> is replaced by the

actual drive letter.

   

Drive letter de-assignment

=========================

A drive letter can be de-assigned from AXISCDEX by typing:



  AXISCDEX -<letter>



at the DOS prompt, where <letter> is replaced by the

actual drive letter.



Help on command line options

============================

A summary of the command line options and the program version 

can be obtained by typing:



  Axiscdex /?



at the DOS prompt.



Technical details

=================

AXISCDEX is a DOS TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) program.

If new drive letters are added after the TSR is installed, the

new drive letters will be transferred to the already installed

TSR.
