SOFTWARE RELEASE NOTES ====================== Products involved: AXIS 2130 PTZ Network Camera Release date: 2004-01-27 Release type: Production Software version: 2.40 Filename: 2130_240.bin Last preceding release: 2.35 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Upgrade instructions: Important: 0. Upgrade to version 2.40 can only be done if version 2.12 or later is installed. 1. Make sure that "active applications" such as continuous transmission of images via ftp or smtp from the Axis Network Camera are disabled prior to initiating upgrade. 2. You must be at the command prompt and in the directory that contains the Upgrade File. Example: C:\Axis\2130\2_40> 3. Open an ftp connection to the unit you want to upgrade from a command prompt. (Do not use a "windows" based ftp-program for this, use only command line ftp programs!) 4. Login as root. The default password for the root user is "pass" unless changed by the user. You must be logged in as the root user to flash upgrade the unit. 5. Change to binary transfer mode by typing "bin" and press enter. 6. Type "hash" and press enter. (This will allow you to see how the upgrade progresses) 7. Type the command "put XXX.bin flash" where XXX.bin is replaced by the name of the name of upgrade file you downloaded (and maybe decompressed) from our site, it is typically named 2130_240.bin or axis2130.bin. 8. Wait for the flash load to finish, this may take 1-10 minutes. Always wait at least 10 minutes for the flash upgrade to complete. 9. Your unit will automatically restart using the new firmware. 10. In case the product was running an application, you will need to enable it again. RELEASE 2.40 ============ News in 2.40 =========== 2.40:1 Added a snapshot button on the view pages. To see the Snapshot button, select this option under Layout, and enable personal layout settings. 2.40:2 The focus lower limit can now be set. 2.40:3 The base file name for the image buffers has been increased to 128 characters. 2.40:4 After a flash upgrade using flash_all, the BOOTPEnabled parameter is restored to the value configured before the upgrade. 2.40:5 The text in the picture is extended to allow characters between ASCII 32 and ASCII 255. 2.40:6 The 2CIF image resolution has been added (704x240 - NTSC or 704x288 - PAL). 2CIF has the same number of lines as CIF, but twice the number of pixels per line. The image is re-scaled to 4CIF in the viewer, which has a slight effect on the image quality. However, the 2CIF option eliminates the motion blur in the regular 4CIF video caused by the interlaced sensor, and it requires half the bandwidth. Corrections in 2.40 since 2.35: ================================= 2.40:7 Improved uploads 'when input goes high' - images are no longer truncated. 2.40:8 The FTP server deamon (sftpd) now opens the back channel data connection on port 20 instead of on a random port. 2.40:9 If the flash upgrade procedure was aborted while erasing the flash, the programming was never completed. This problem is now corrected. 2.40:10 The mail client complies with the RFC, regarding bare LF. Some servers, such as qmail, were rejecting the mails generated by the client. 2.40:11 Applications now switch from primary to secondary time without occasionally causing the product to reboot. 2.40:12 Occasional problems when generating applications have now been corrected. For example, applications never starting or attempting to start all the time. 2.40:13 Corrected several problems while generating applications. 2.40:14 Upload with large images no longer stops when the images fill the RAM space allocated to buffers. The application should restart as soon as the images can fit. 2.40:15 The preset position page is no longer affected by the Personal Layout settings. Accessing the admin pages by the URL does no longer cause some erroneous behaviour on the preset positions settings. 2.40:16 Corrected a memory issue in the FTP application. 2.40:17 The delta time between images no longer wraps around one second. 2.40:18 Enabled multicast traffic receiving from range of addresses that were not working before. 2.40:19 Negotiated values for network speed 10Mbps and half/full duplex are now correctly reported. 2.40:20 Some stability problems seen when the product was installed in heavy network load environments have been corrected. 2.40:21 Several minor problems in the GUI have been corrected, including boundary check on image compression and more. Application developer / scripting in 2.40: ========================================== 2.40.22 The request http://ip/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?camera=2 no longer causes the image streams to stop. 2.40.23 The HTTP API request for 176x112 (NTSC) images now works. The following HTTP API groups are supported by the AXIS 2130. For more information please check the HTTP API document available at www.axis.com. Group Exceptions ===== ========== General Get property Jpeg/Mjpg PTZ I/O control Known limitations in version 2.40 ================================= L1.
