Make sure that "active applications" such as continuos tranmission of images via ftp or smtp from the Axis Network Camera are disabled prior to initiating upgrade. 1. Make sure to take notes of your application/layout and other settings prior to upgrading since these settings will be lost during upgrade. 2. You must be at the command prompt and in the directory that contains the Upgrade File. Example: C:\Axis\2100\2_12> 3. Open a ftp connection to the unit you want to upgrade from a command prompt. (Do not use a "windows" based ftp-program for this, use only command line ftp programs!) 4. Login as root. The default password for the root user is "pass" unless changed by the user. You must be logged in as the root user to flash upgrade the unit. 5. Change to binary transfer mode by typing "bin" and press enter. 6. Type "hash" and press enter. (This will allow you to see how the upgrade progresses) 7. Type the command "put XXX.bin flash_all" where XXX.bin is replaced by the name of the name of upgrade file you downloaded (and maybe decompressed) from our site, it is typically named 2100_212.bin or axis2100.bin. 8. Wait for the flash load to finish, this may take 1-10 minutes. Always wait at least 10 minutes for the flash upgrade to complete. 9. Your unit will automatically restart using the new firmware. 10. Reconfigure your settings. Release 2.12 ================== News in 2.12 since 2.03: 1. Image and video URLs have changed to comply with the Axis Camera HTTP API. The Axis Camera HTTP API is available for download from the Camera developer pages on www.axis.com 2. Experimental "Beta" version of DHCP added. DHCP is available in 2.12 for evaluation and test purposes. 3. Notification of dynamically changed IP address (DHCP or PPP). Notification will be sent when IP address is changed and can be sent via HTTP, SMTP (e-mail) or FTP. 4. Improved version of the ActiveX Camera Control (1,0,1,42). 5. Improved version of the Java Applet Image Viewer. 6. Callback functionality added for PPP including URLs for control of timeout and shutdown of PPP. (Please read known problems below) 7. Added inclusion of dynamic IP-address received via PPP in alarm e-mails. 8. Improved PPP/modem init string handling. Note: If $ is present in init string use \ to escape. 9. Added I/O control and monitoring via HTTP. 10. FTP port to be used by the ftp client is configurable. 11. Support for up to 64 characters in PPP usernames. Note: When using T-Online, the "#" character should be removed from the username. 12. Improved reliability for future firmware upgrades. Common problems encountered by users: C1: Modem dial- out connection preferences. Three ISP connection options are available, "Always open", "Close After" and "Optimized". Connection Optimized - the Axis 2100 will stay connected if images are to be transmitted within the next 5 minutes. If the time to the next image transmission is unknown or more then 5 minutes the Axis 2100 will disconnect after each image transmission is completed. This is the ISP connection option we recommend that you use. Always open - will if connection and ISP allows always stay connected, when connection for some reason is broken the Axis 2100 will attempt to reconnect at the time of the next image transmission. Close After - will close the connection after the user-specified time. Note that this will be an absolute disconnect X seconds after establishment of the connection. The connection will be closed without regard to transmissions in progress. C2: When customizing the Layout under Applications, you have to check "Enable Personal Settings" to have your changes take affect Known problems and limitations: L1: Image buffers larger then the available buffer memory may cause the image buffer to stop. Temporary solution: Decrease the size of the buffer used by 1. Increasing compression of images. 2. Decrease resolution of buffered images. 3. Decrease the number of images buffered. L2: If secondary DNS server is configured it will actually be used as the primary. and the primary DNS server will be used as secondary. L3: If Callback is used, "Disconnect After" will not work. Use the URL http:///axis-cgi/admin/closeppp.cgi to disconnect L4: API deviations, the following functions specified in the Axis Camera API, HTTP are not included in release 2.12: http:///axis-cgi/image.cgi Not supported CGI parameters and values: colorlevel rotation 90,270 http:///axis-cgi/video.cgi Not supported CGI parameters: colorlevel rotation 90,270 nbrofframes http:///axis-cgi/buffer/command.cgi Not supported. http:///axis-cgi/com/serial.cgi Not supported. http:///axis-cgi/admin/factorydefault.cgi Not supported. http:///axis-cgi/admin/serverreport.cgi Not supported. http:///axis-cgi/admin/systemlog.cgi Not supported. http:///axis-cgi/admin/restart.cgi Not supported. http:///axis-cgi/admin/getparam.cgi Not supported. http:///axis-cgi/admin/setparam.cgi Not supported.
