====================== Products affected: AXIS 206 rev2 Network Camera Release date: 2006-03-20 Release type: Release Candidate Firmware version: 4.38 File name: axis206rev2.bin Preceding release: None ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS ==================== The firmware can be upgraded using Axis Camera Management 2.0, HTTP or FTP. Please follow the instruction from the user manual, web page or the file named howtoupgrade.txt RELEASE 4.38 ============ 4.38 is the first official production release for the AXIS 206 rev2. Known limitations in 4.38 ========================= 4.38:1 If you set compression to 0% the frame rate may decrease substantially for Motion JPEG for certain scenes. This is because the image size may not exceed 128 KB. Workaround: Set the compression to 5% instead. The image quality will not suffer noticeably, but the image size will be much smaller. 4.38:2 Including format field #b or #B in text overlay will show incorrect bandwidth usage when frame rate is limited for Motion JPEG. 4.38:3 The view size buttons in Live View will not work if you are viewing via the QuickTime plugin. 4.38:4 If viewing the image stream on Mac OS X with Mozilla Firefox or Camino using the AXIS Media Java Applet, a third party plugin may be needed to get the browser to use the correct Java version. The Java Embedding Plugin can be found at http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net/. 4.38:5 The AXIS Media Control toolbar is not available when using the Mozilla Firefox and Netscape Web browsers. This is because images are viewed with server push instead of ActiveX (AXIS Media Control). 4.38:6 When saving a snapshot image, some Web browsers (e.g. Mozilla) will fetch a new picture and the saved picture will not match the displayed snapshot. 4.38:7 The Mozilla Web browser does not always close the image stream properly when leaving the Live View page. Restarting the stream can sometimes fail as well. Restarting Mozilla solves these two problems. Known problems in 4.38 ====================== 4.38:8 When using DDNS (Windows Server 2003), the link local address is registered in the DNS, not the real IP-address. 4.38:9 If primary dns-server is online but the DNS service is unavailable (e.g a standard Windows XP machine was set as primary dns server by mistake), the secondary dns server is never contacted. 4.38:10 The DDNS (Windows server 2003) is not updated when the IP-address of the DUT changes. 4.38:11 When the DUT:s IP is changed, the change does not show in i.e IP-utility. 4.38:12 An error on live view page with AMC as default viewer (java and still image does not produce this error). 4.38:13 The second option in the drop down list "Specify date format" is "Www Mmm D YYYY". Should be "Www Mmm DD YYYY". If the option is selected it's displayed correctly in for example text overlay. 4.38:14 Change HTTP port in Advanced network settings, go to HTML examples and view the code. The code displayed in HTML Examples does not refere to the new port, results in no video stream.
