1(1) NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Product involved: AXIS Camera Explorer (ACE) Release date: 2004 Feb 5 Release type: PRODUCTION Software version: 1.30 Software media: Last preceding release: 1.20 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Release description: 1. This is the 1.30 release of AXIS Camera Explorer (ACE). The major new features are listed below. 2. Support for new servers/cameras: Automatic detection of new Axis products 3. ACE shortcut added to start menu -------------------------------------------------------------------- System Requirements: 1. Software Microsoft Windows 95 with Winsock2 Microsoft Windows 98 Microsoft Windows Me Microsoft Windows NT4 Microsoft Windows 2000 Microsoft Windows XP Internet Explorer version 4.01 or later 2. Hardware: Intel Pentium 166MHz MMX, 64 Mb Mouse equipped with Mouse Wheel (applies to PTZ devices/cameras) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation: You must be logged in as an administrator when installing ACE. You don't have to uninstall ACE 1.0 before installing ACE 1.1 and you don't have to enter a licence code if you already have registered ACE. Run setup.exe (or ACE.exe if you are installing the downloadable version). Follow the instructions. After the successful installation of ACE you will find a new icon in the folder tree on the left side of Windows Explorer - called Network Cameras. You may have to refresh the Explorer after the installation. Uninstallation / reinstallation: Uninstall will remove all of the objects (cameras, albums and live video sites) you have added. If you need to uninstall ACE and still want to keep your objects for later use, back up the following file (found in the Windows/Winnt directory): B70B3711_525C_11D4_B070_009027BD8645.rfo. ACE will create a new B70B...rfo file when it is reinstalled. Replace the B70B...rfo file with the one you backed up. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Known limitations: 1. Albums, recording and snapshots: Use full paths (e.g. C:\images, not just images) when you associate an album with a directory and when you record and save snapshots. 2. Adding Internet connected cameras: An Internet connected camera will not be identified autmatically if you are connected to the Internet through a proxy server. But, you can choose model and version manually if the identification fails. Another possibility is to add a Live Video site object and enter the video request in the URL field. 3. Camera object names: Avoid using DNS names when you are naming a camera or Live video site objects in the Explorer. In some cases the Internet Explorer will try to open the camera object instead of connecting to the camera when you enter the DNS name in the Address field. 4. Delete and View button: You can not use the delete and view buttons in the toolbar to delete objects or to change the view style (large icons, details etc) of the folder view if you are running Windows 2000 or Windows Me. Use the context meny or the View menu instead. 5. Some new Axis products will require Viewer user and password for the camera is entered to enable autodetection of device type
